Hey readers! Jeff here. San Diego Comic-Con was a few months ago, and looking back, I have to say that my favorite moment was watching my wife finally get to meet her filmic idol, Mr. Quentin Tarantino. We camped out on Friday night, braving the brightly-lit San Diego streets in the hopes that we could make the 11 a.m. Django panel. Camping out paid off–and in some unexpected ways.
The Tarantino panel was being followed later by a panel that included The Hobbit, and we were shocked when, at around 1:15 a.m., Sir Ian McKellen casually strolled out onto the camping lawn to mingle with his adoring fans. It was as if Santa showed up to visit an orphanage. Whispered cries of “Gandalf! Gandalf is here!” were overtaken by my louder yelling “Holy shit! Magneto just showed up!” McKellen was a true class act. He stayed with the fans for about an hour, casually taking photos and signing whatever was at hand. Very cool guy, and now I know for sure that he takes his adoring fans seriously.
But as far as I’m concerned, that day will always be about Ashley’s meeting with Tarantino. So awesome. She’ll be telling her side of it and posting a link to the actual panel. You cant miss her–she’s the cute one in the yellow jumpsuit.
Hey readers, it’s Ashley. I’m sorry I haven’t had time to update the blog with all my Comic-Con goodies yet. But, I needed to post this: I had the privilege of asking Master Tarantino a question at the Django Unchained panel. As I stood there in my Beatrix Kiddo jumpsuit, I died from happiness when he said I looked like Charlize Theron dressed as The Bride. But what brought me even more happiness: I got to ask him a question I’ve wanted to ask for years, and he gave a thoughtful, awesome answer (and so did one of the stars of the film). Part of me was nervous that Tarantino could never live up to my expectations, but guess what? He was smart, humble, kind, articulate, and funny. I wish I could’ve talked to him for hours, and I’m a bigger fan than ever. My exchange with Tarantino starts at 42:30. It was a dream come true, and I hope you enjoy sharing in my fun. Check out the video here.
I will give you all of the +1s! And for anyone interested to skipping to the goods, go to minute 42.
How adorable and awesome are you?! Great question!
That is amazing!!! More Comic-Con coverage please?
Oh that is so awesome! I wasn't able to make it to Comic-Con this year and Im still so bummed. I cant wait to see you post all of your goodies!
Quentin Tarantino called you damn hot. I will now die of jealousy.
Haha. I was beside myself. I couldn’t even think. I’ve never turned into such a giggly fangirl.
