With my favorite holiday fast approaching, some of you may be scrambling to throw together an easy costume. Not everyone can obsessively plan out Halloween months in advance (like I do), and maybe you just want a clever costume for a Halloween party. Here are some easy costume options that can all be donned by women and gents alike.
1. Dr. Who
What You Need:
- Collared shirt
- Tweed jacket
- Red bow tie
- Fez
With a few easy-to-find and inexpensive items, you’re in business as Dr. Who. Think Geek even offers a Dr. Who quick costume set with a fez and bow tie. It doesn’t get any easier.
2. Shaun
What You Need:
- Name tag
- Red tie
- White collared shirt
- Fake blood
Muss up your shirt and tie so you look nice and disheveled from running for your life. Don’t forget to put a red ink stain on the shirt pocket. Bonus points for adding a cricket bat to the ensemble.
3. Captain Hammer
What You Need:
- Black industrial gloves
- Hammer t-shirt
- Grey pants
- Belt
- Black boots
Snag a Captain Hammer shirt from a myriad places online from Old Glory to Think Geek to Etsy. It’s been a dream of mine to dress up The Husband as Captain Hammer, while I take on the role of Dr. Horrible. It’s on the to-do list.
4. Indy
What You Need:
- Brown pants
- Button-up shirt
- Signature hat
- Whip
We ran into this dame at San Diego Comic-Con last year and thought she really rocked the Indiana Jones cosplay. If you have some pants and a shirt that will suffice, you really only need a whip and a hat to channel one of the most iconic film characters of all time.
5. Death
What You Need:
- Black tank and pants
- Black wig or hair dye
- Liquid eyeliner
- Ankh necklace
If you’re like me and you already have a ton of black in your wardrobe, this costume is a cinch. Just use liquid eyeliner to draw Death’s signature swirls around the eyes and grab an Ankh necklace. You can also add Death’s black umbrella to complete the look.
